Vintage McCOY POTTERY Pink Sports Shoe PLANTER Flower Soft Pink Tennis Shoe

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this sweet pink planter from McCOY POTTERY. It is known as the SPORTS SHOE PLANTER, and is fairly rare or hard to find, I understand. The shoe planter is made of a fine vintage pottery material and is colored a soft rose pink. The shoe is well detailed: in back we see the heel reinforcement and indiividual holes for the shoe strings. . A round flower with a raised center is seen on either side of the shoe, and fancy swirls flank the toe. Ribbing hangs down from around the shoe sole, done in pairs, to give the impression of work or athletic shoe treads. The planter is not marked, however, I have a book on figural planters which says most experts agree that this is a genuine McCOY item. I tend to agree, both from the styling, shape, and color. Also, the clay on bottom has the look and feel of other McCoy items I have. The shoe planter is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few places that appear whitish, but these were under the glaze and are just areas where the color didn't "take". They are NOT flaws or chips. These are seen mostly on the very bottom of the shoe--see photo. The shoe measures 6 inches long and stands 3 3/4 inches tall. This is a super item for the McCOY or vintage pottery collector.
