Vintage CURRIER & IVES Tile Trivet HOMESTEAD IN WINTER Made in Japan 60s Rooster Top

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this charming vintage cast iron CURRIER AND IVES tile trivet. Both iron trivet and tile were made in Japan. The tile shows the famous Currier and Ives work, THE HOMESTEAD IN WINTER. This title is printed in black lettering at the bottom of the tile, plus the names CURRIER AND IVES in smaller print. The scene shows a white house and a barn. A 2-horse drawn sleigh is traveling toward us. A man carrys firewood while his dog follows behind. Snow covers the ground and the gray winter sky is tinged with pink near the horizon. On back of the tile it says in raised lettering, MADE IN JAPAN. There is the maker's mark, which I think is Cherrie and the numbers 8A and 48. The number 48 could refer to the date of manufacture, but I don't think so. I believe this item was made in the 1960's or early 70's. The cast iron frame of the trivet also has the word "Japan" incised on back. The frame is charming with a rooster finial at the top. His fanned tail feathers meet his body and form a round hole for hanging the trivet. It measures 8 3/4 inches tall. It is a great item for the Currier and Ives collector--nice on your wall or your table, too.

Measurement: 8 3/4 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches at the widest part. The tile is 4 1/4 inches square.

Condition: Great vintage condition, very minor wear
