Vintage TIKI Vase Tumbler TIKI LEILANI Hawaii Pottery USA 1960s Fierce Mid Century

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this vintage TIKI mug, cup, vase or tumbler. There seems to be some confusion as to the maker of these mugs. This one has only "USA" on the bottom. Apparently Orchids of Hawaii made mugs like this or similiar, but this one was made in the US much earlier, probably during the American pottery classic period of the 40's, 50's, or early 60's. Some of these potteries used just a USA mark, including Mccoy. This mug is made of heavy, sturdy pottery material. It is a light caramel brown all over. The fierce-looking man is seen on two sides. The pottery actually makes him look as if he were carved from wood. He has a prominent nose, shaped like a bird's beak, and a grimacing mouth full of teeth. He has a stocky body, round belly, and bent knees. His feet only show 4 toes, and his hands look like clenched mitts. Incised into his base, it says "Tiki Leilani" on both sides. The USA mark on the bottom is raised. The mug is very detailed, a fine piece of pottery art.

Measurement: The mug stands 5 1/4 inches tall. It measures 2 3/4 inches across the top opening.
