Vintage RED MILL Manufacturing PIG PIGGIE PIGGY SOW HOG with Piglets Hogstead Figurine 1992

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this interesting sculpture of a mother pig and her piglets by RED MILL MFG. I believe it was made in 1992. Little is known about Red Mill, but I believe it was in New York. Their products were unique in that they made their figures from the crushed shells of pecans and possibly other nuts. Apparently they went out of business and their molds were sold to a Chinese concern. This made the original sculptures highly collectible and sought after. The original sculptures had the name Red Mill incised and also usually had a red and gold foil paper sticker which featured the red mill on it. All the Red Mill products are highly detailed works, and their animal figures are especially desirable.

Mama pig, or sow, is relaxing while 3 little porkers find their dinner. One fellow hasn't gotten the idea yet, and she seems annoyed with him. The detail is just amazing. Each wrinkle in her skin is seen and felt, while her snout is quite smooth. We can even see the little piglets' curly tails. When the figures were unmolded, they were then highlighted in areas and darkened in others, giving them a realistic look. On the back of the figure is the date '92 and the word "HOGSTEAD". If you collect either Red Mill or pigs, you will want this lady for your very own. This would also make a fine gift for the pig lover on your list.

Measurement: Stands about 3 inches tall. It measures approximately 6 inches long and almost 4 inches wide front to back. This is a SOLID sculpture and rather heavy.

Condition:EXCELLENT--no chips or damages---still has original sticker and felt pads on bottom
