Description: Waiting for your purchase is this wonderful vintage pitcher from the ROBINSON-RANSBOTTOM POTTERY in Roseville, Ohio. The pottery was begun in 1900 by Frank Ransbottom and became well-known for its earthenware and stoneware items. Other family members worked for the famous nearby Roseville pottery, and people still confuse the two potteries today. It was one of the last of the great American potteries to hold out, but it, too, succumbed to pressure from high costs and overseas competition. The pottery closed in 2005. This pitcher is tall and elegantly shaped. Its bottom part reminds me of the bulbous feel of an eggplant. The pitcher has a dark brown glaze with a whiter foam drip glaze around the upper area. The spout is pointed, with a very modern look, yet overall the pitcher has a lovely vintage look to it. It has a slender, tapering neck and a tall, elongated ear-shaped handle. The full maker's mark is incised on the bottom of the pitcher, but it has been heavily covered with glaze so is hard to read. It would be wonderful in a RRP collection or a nice addition to your table.

Measurement: Pitcher stands 7 1/4 inches tall. It measures 3 3/4 inches across the foot ring at the base. It appears to be able to hold about a quart of liquid.
