Vintage McCOY POTTERY Wooden Eagle Canister Cookie Jar SPIRT OF 76 Bicentennial Patriotic

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this wonderful CANISTER cookie jar from MCCOY POTTERY. It is made of fine quality pottery material. This pattern is called "Wooden Eagle" and shows a carved wooden eagle with its wings wide spread. It is perched on American flags that mimic the shape of the eagle's wings. The artist of the design is unknown. The canister has a nice milk can shape. Its top area is glazed in a rich chocolate brown. The bottom of the canister is a soft butter cream color or buff. On bottom is the incised MCCOY USA mark and the mark also refers to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., printed over the incised mark. This design was made by McCoy, beginning in 1972, for the 200th anniversary of the founding of America and commemorates the bicentennial of 1976. Just under the sides of the flags in the design, it says "The Spirit of Seventy Six". This terrific item would really enhance your McCoy pottery collection. Perfect in early American or patriotic decor.

Measurement: The canister stands 8 1/2 inches tall and measures 3 1/2 inches across the top. It measures almost 5 inches across the bottom.

Condition: Great vintage condition, minor wear, colors and designs bright, small rough on the bottom (not sure if it was done in manufacture-see pic)
