Vintage JEANNETTE GLASBAKE 1976 Bicentennial MILK GLASS MUG Eagle Shield Stars

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this wonderful milk glass mug, manufactured by GLASBAKE, expressly for the American Bicentennial in 1976 that commemorated 200 years of our history as a nation. We've traveled ahead in time far enough now that bicentennial items are beginning to be hard to find and that will increase as time goes by (don't you wish you had items from our CENTENNIAL back in 1876????). This mug is made of a pearly white glass and is decorated on each side with a red and blue design, allowing the white to show through and become a true red-white-and blue design. There is a red and white striped, blue crested shield in the background, over which we see an eagle, the American symbol, with its wings outstretched. Its feet or talons clutch arrows in one, symbolizing war, and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing peace. The word "bicentennial" in blue lettering is over the shield, and the dates 1776 and 1976 flank the eagle design, as do blue stars. The squared ear handle is large enough for 3 fingers. The full Glasbake mark is on the bottom of the mug. The mug is in excellent condition with no chips or dings. This is a great item for this historical collector!

Measurement: mug stands 3 1/2 inches tall and measures 3 inches across the top

Condition: Great vintage condition, some wear and very minor paint loss to the dates
