Vintage RED MILL MANUFACTURING Mount Rushmore Black Hills Presidents Made in USA HTF

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this beautiful commemorative work of sculpture by RED MILL MFG. The piece commemorates MOUNT RUSHMORE, the famous sculpture done on the sacred Black Hills of South Dakota. The sculpture depicts 4 US presidents, from left to right: GEORGE WASHINGTON, THOMAS JEFFERSON, TEDDY ROOSEVELT, and ABRAHAM LINCOLN. Very little information is available on Red Mill Mfg., but I believe they were located in New York. They made high quality products as souvenirs and collectibles. They are best known for their detailed figurines of horses and other animals. What is known is that the products were made of pecan shells, and perhaps the shells of other nuts. The shells were turned into a material which could be put into a mold. Then the figure was removed from the mold and trimmed and polished to a fine sheen. Apparently, Red Mill went out of business and its molds were sold to a Chinese concern. The original sculptures are now becoming highly sought after and collected. Each of the original sculptures had a red and gold paper foil sticker which showed the red mill. The words RED MILL were also incised on each piece.

This Mount Rushmore sculpture is very well done and highly detailed. Each president is easily recognizable. The piece has the incised Red Mill mark, as well as the original paper foil sticker. On bottom are 4 felt circles to prevent scratching furniture. The sculpture mimics the original mountain sculpture, and we can even see and feel the rock debris at the base of the mountain. If you collect Red Mill or Mt. Rushmore items, you will definitely want this beauty!

Measurement: The piece stands a little over 4 1/2 inches tall. It is 7 3/4 inches long, and 2 3/4 inches deep front to back at the widest part. It is solid and quite heavy.

Condition: EXCELLENT----NO chips or cracks or damages----has original paper sticker and felt pads
