Vintage WHITE HOBNAIL Pottery PLANTER MCM Made in USA Mid Century Pedestal

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this pretty and distinctive mid century planter. I cannot find a maker's mark on it, so I cannot tell you how made it; but I can see whoever it was did a good job. The top section of the planter is almost square and has 5 rows of hobnail or beaded design on the outside. This area is atop a stacked descending pedestal which narrows in the middle, then begins stacking again until it broadens into a wide square foot. The planter is made of a good quality pottery material and is glazed in a creamy white that is almost matte--not too shiny. There is a tiny glaze bubble hole on one corner of the base--about the size of the point of a pin--it looks like a pin hole, in fact, just a tiny dot. I believe the planter has been used, perhaps as a vase. It is open all the way to the base, so I assume it would hold water for cut flowers, too. Many of the mid century potters used a paper sticker on their wares, making it almost impossible to know who made them unless you are an expert. This planter is in great vintage condition and has double use as a vase, too. I especially like the contrast between the rounded beads on the top area and the stacked geometric look of the pedestal. This is a great planter for any decor and a great one for a mid century collection.
