Vintage TERRINE FRUIT BASKET Terra Cotta Ceramic Decorative MOLD Made in Japan Red Clay

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this charming FRUIT BASKET kitchen decor mold that was probably made in JAPAN. This mold is made out of red clay or terra cotta. It has the feel of a clay flower pot, but thicker. The finely detailed fruit basket stands out from the background in raised relief. The wide basket has its own textured weave and it holds cherries, bananas, peaches, apples, pendant grapes, and many other fruits. Decorative ribs go around the side of the mold. Inside, the mold has been painted dark brown and then glazed. I DO NOT think this item is meant to be used as a food mold, and I recommend it for decorative purposes only! There are some indentations inside, but if you wanted to form the fruit basket, this mold wouldn't do a very good job. It is just pretty to look at, not for use. There is a twisted wire hanger through two holes in the top and a gold ring circular hanger. The mold measures 7 inches across the back widest part.

Measurement: The mold measures 7 inches across the widest part and 5 1/2 inches up and down. It is about 2 inches thick front to back including the protuberant fruit and basket.
