Vintage PLAYFUL BEAR Pottery Planter Yellow MORTON POTTERY 1950s Mid Century

Description: Waiting for your purchase is this charming figural planter of a bear on its back holding a bowl with its feet. This planter is unmarked, but I believe it is American and from around the 1950's, the classic period in American pottery. It is possibly Morton Pottery. At any rate, it is well formed and a cute decorative item. The bear, which I think is a cub, has a strange O-shaped expression as if it now has the bowl up there and doesn't know quite what to do about it! Its legs and paws are well formed, as are its cute round ears. It's expression and wide-eyed stare are incised and unforgettable. Even its little scut of a tail is shown. The planter is in excellent condition and has never been used for plants. It is a soft muted yellow in color.

Measurement: The planter stands 4 inches tall and measures 6 inches across at the widest part. The bowl measures 3 1/2 inches across the top.

Condition: EXCELLENT--no chips or cracks or crazing--does have some popped glaze bubbles across the top of bowl and head. Was done when it was made, so is expected and not a problem.
